FAUSTO BELLINO TASCA was a painter, sculptor and designer. He trained in design and painting at the Design School in Bassano del Grappa, and studied landscape painting and portraiture at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, Italy (Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia).

His commissions in the United States included a landscape of Mission Santa Barbara, which served as the City of Santa Barbara’s gift to the King and Queen of Belgium. Fausto also painted the interior decoration of the ceiling and foyer of St. Andrew Church in Pasadena. He painted murals for The First National Bank in Los Angeles, Farmers and Merchants Bank, and Citizen’s National Trust and Savings.

Fausto also decorated the interior of the now lost St. Peter’s Italian Catholic Church in Los Angeles, as well as the complete interior of the Cabrini Chapel, formerly in Duarte. In addition, Fausto Tasca designed a stained–glass window for the public library in Redondo Beach, and painted portraits of A.P. Giannini and Galileo. He presented the Galileo portrait to the Griffith Park Observatory shortly before his death in 1937. For many years his painting hung in the foyer of the Observatory.

Perhaps the most important commission he received was the design of the interior of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, the Church of the Fishermen, in San Diego. This project included two large murals, ceiling medallions, grisaille paintings, as well as the design of all the stained glass windows. The community of Our Lady of the Rosary, rightly proud of their historical building, undertook a major restoration of the entire church in 2020. Click here to see a video of the restoration project.

His work as a sculptor included rendering a likeness of Enrico Caruso which he presented to the great tenor's widow.

Fausto Bellino Tasca died in Los Angeles in 1937 at the age of 52.
